How do I attach my flag?
With the finish you ordered, in the way your pole or stick asks for. On a flagpole, tie the top corner of the flag to the halyard, then the bottom corner, and hoist. On a stick, slide the sleeve on or hook the flag between the two hooks. It is simpler than it sounds.
Three rules worth more than any manual

A few habits
Keep the halyard taut and tie it off properly. Replace a worn hook or rope at once. Never store the flag wet. Public buildings lower the flag at sunset unless it is lit — that is a rule for institutions, not for you.
