A review, a phone call, an email
A customer left a review that told us he was not fully convinced by his purchase. We believe in talking to people, so we picked up the phone. A few minutes later the doubt was cleared up, and we thought that was the end of it.
It wasn't. Shortly after, an email arrived from the same customer. This time he wanted to tell us the story of that flag, which turned out to be the story of a father and his son.
A four-year-old's flag
Adriano's son, four and a half at the time, loved drawing the sky. Always the same way: one blue line for the sky, a big yellow sun in the middle, and two lines at the bottom, green and brown, for the grass and the earth.
The drawing came from nothing but his imagination. Then his dad noticed something: it looks a lot like real flags. The Pacific island nation of Palau flies a yellow disc on a blue field. The Russian republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has a white arctic sun over blue, with white, red and green stripes beneath it.
So Adriano turned his son's drawing into a real flag. That is the flag we printed.
A flag for the whole planet
Speaking of skies and suns: there is even a flag for the Earth itself. The "Flag of Earth" was designed in 1970 by James W. Cadle, a farmer from Illinois, and shows our blue planet, the yellow sun and the white moon on a black field.
Why this story matters to us
Behind every order there is a person, a team, a club, an event, a family. Something real that people want to show the world through a flag.
Had we not called about that first review, we would have kept a half-satisfied customer. Instead we got a proud dad and a small, big story. As the old saying goes, a pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. We know which side we are on.
